Homeschool Program
Orendas homeschool program fosters a close mentoring relationship between adults and students in which we pass on teachings of the natural world. These teachings include the practice of ancient skills common to all of our ancestors. Through those skills, and through storytelling, practicing awareness routines and playing learning games, we deepen our relationship with one another and with nature.
In our homeschool program, we feature routines that help us
to participate in the natural world more fully so that we can learn more about
the habits and habitats of local wildlife and the science and lore of
plants.
For more details on the physical skills that we teach and
the overriding themes that we explore, see our Featured Skills and Themes page
Our homeschool program is known for its low staff to student ratio, for the way
that we support self directed learning, and for the community atmosphere that
we create.
We offer our students individualized attention and encouragement. Our goal is to help each student develop their connections to others by giving attention to group dynamics and community building. Our focus is on forming a cohesive group partnership, encouraging a sense of unity through our shared appreciation of the natural world. We offer ancestral stories and wisdom to help support this process.
